HuddyJ Couteaux possess so much talent and skill, wrapped neatly in a cocoon of nostalgia, for me. This, and their prior work, are in one way - a lot of fun - and in another, quite marvellous. Favorite track: So It Goes.

So It Goes 04:20
seems all the thoughts i held esteemed can seldom work to justify the means much better than the act i’ll always say on this play's stage motive’s lost in the moment find all these fractured creatures seeking form in shadows much darker and dim than the enemy’s ascent is harder than the fall i’d rather see feigning heroics in the looming face of fear selfless frame of mind lost in time and these selfish ways came in place mirrors speak lies in front of my eyes have I tried to say that I was wrong and subdue feelings of valor in song And I've been thrown facedown against the ground find all these fractured creatures seeking form in shadows much darker and dim than the enemy’s regrets are greater when the time you seek will never be worse when it indicates me as the enemy my body starts to shake beneath the weight of what is right and if I see this end with empty eyes i’ve lost the light to the enemy If I turn my head and satellite these souls let my will bend say so it goes… would it just disappear or would i just disappear at the end of what I know of your end

our home was built on a dream that's gone on for so long and it stood to be ate by the sea inevitably but we can't bear to bring an end to our spring so we keep building our welcome's worn worse than they'll say and we all just stay the same who's to blame? for stubborn states of change we'll all just play the game, calamity cured correctly could be but what we all see's a Pyrrhic victory too late to mitigate oh, we bite the hand that feeds and can't believe it bleeds. I never said... I know what's best for this unrest I only guess that you and I we gotta try and kill the old lie that we need it all how do we deceive with ease what we believe is insane and naive what we ignore is fear or is there more? our welcome's worn worse than they'll say and we all just stay the same who's to blame? for stubborn states of change we'll all keep playing the game calamity cured correctly could be but what we all see's a Pyrrhic victory too late to change our fate oh, the world burns on a pyre and we just fan the fire they'll never see why can't they see a world destroyed for money made buys them only a gilded grave

I’ve seen this all before How you’re dreaming while you wake through closed eyes I suspect that you’re the one to tell me I’ve been Wrong all the right times I’m choking on my words but i’m finding that I never thought that we’d make it out ahead never thought that you’d say those things you said You’re calling out my past and it’s buried in a fabled end to a failed start I fear Stars above sing a song that no one hears These pages torn from fate Their burning ashes light all we see The veil that you wear brings darkness to all these seeds we’ve sown It’s over No words at all Certainty is all that you breathe when you divinate my thoughts It dissipates like warmth in cold air Exhaling all that you believe spoken in tongues unknown resolved in ways that I can’t place So far the stars have led me here to a quiet constellation

don't stop chasing memories (misplaced) don't you know me whispered softly in your ear fiction is filling your head riddles in rhyme were all you said your failing fight to find the words has left us wondering what we've heard circular reasoning why you can't seem to find your mind you're speaking nonsense and you're lost in time but don't stop chasing memories (misplaced) don't you know me whispered softly in your ear don't you know me and I know those telling eyes the body's worst disguise vestige parts make up what's left to try and salvage the rest futile fools to change the rules by which our body will choose faceless facts can't help but lose and let go oh, I won't believe it's unreceived the signs you know flicker, fade, go and I fear that you're locked in chasing memories (misplaced) don't you know me mortal men we find all will bend with time can we mend our bind? should we just resign? don't follow my ghost

I expected that you’d arrive to confidence in my eyes but indecision took its toll when I decided to lay down If all we know is loss encased inside our thoughts we’ll never wager this to chances that pass by If I had only known I’d fold so soon I’ll collapse gladly under the weight of your hearts’ content help connect circuitry ripped out from me to rest my head If all we claim to see By candle on a darkened road are more than shadows but less than foes we’ll all be here in time but time seldom says a word just carry on and understand but happiness as I know will be lost if I go one more day this way with one last tried attempt i’ll carry on the present tense in defense

Anastomosis 04:22
you breath in, life blows you out we’re such fragile light we could burn it self consumed extinguish in the night yet you knew we all held more than self in mind than the features nature prides more than one survives confusing as all proves to be you helped us see that we are all just healers to be who writes brief lines of fate i don’t believe its fair why fight or lie in wait it won’t deceive what’s there lines of sight we get too late or won't believe are true would you? how death has changed in my mind as an end horizons bend back in the comfort we find in words you left behind could we contain all of what we lost adrift in your wake what separates in the sea is gone just floats on and on to all the shores of our minds in time do we find more still without you here do we believe? yes, I do you’ve gone on you always said we’d broadcast love if we tried into all the sky and its all that is left like you said we are mind, body and spirit

about

Couteaux San Francisco, California

Couteaux formed the summer of 2011 after the demise of the post-rock group Atheorem, and as a side-project to the bay area metal band Simoom.
With our genres combined we can play melodic music with a punch...and also summon captain planet.

Our debut EP "Sail West to Reach The East" will be released June 30th, 2012 with all songs fully downloadable from our bandcamp...for a measly sum of $3.
